There is no greater experience, or more beautiful sight, than arriving in Venice by train, exiting the station and seeing the Grand Canal before your eyes. High Speed travel in Italy has never been so easy onboard the Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca.

Italy now offers E-tickets. These fares are a cheaper and more convenient way to travel. Simply make your booking via our booking engine, once confirmed and paid you can print out your e-ticket.

Please note that e-tickets do not offer passholder fares. These will be issued as paper.

Passholder Fares explained:

There is only 1 type of Passholder fares available for high speed Italian trains (Paper tickets only). This is defined below:

  • Passholder 1 fares are for passengers carrying a Eurail Global Pass, Eurail Select Pass (incl. Italy) / Eurail France-Italy pass / Eurail Greece-Italy / Eurail Italy Pass.
  • Italy E-tickets do not offer passholder fares.

Train types


Trains connect Turin-Milan-Bologna-Rome-Naples-Salerno on the high speed line. The trains reach the speed up to 360 km/h.


Trains connect Rome to Venice, Verona, Bari/Lecce, Lamezia Terme/ReggioCalabria on the high speed lines and traditional lines. Frecciargento trains reach up to 250 Km/h speed.


Trains connecting Milan to: Venice, Udine e Trieste; Genoa and Rome; down to Bari, Lecce on the traditional line. Frecciabianca trains can reach speed of 200 km/h.


  • Italy E-tickets can be reserved 180 days prior to the train departure date.
  • High Speed Italy train passholder fares can be reserved 120 days prior to the train departure date.
  • Reservations are compulsory.
  • Eurail Passholders are welcome, however a seat reservation fee is payable.
  • Children: On high speed trains the child age is 4 and 14 inclusive on the train departure date. Children under 4 years travel free when sharing a paying adults seat/bed. NOTE: Child Age is 4 and 11 inclusive on regional services.
