Swedish railways - Major planned construction works June 29-July 10

Friday, 26 May 2017

The Swedish Transport Administration will be investing billions over the coming years.

On the 9th  of July, Stockholm's new commuter train tunnel, the Stockholm City Line, will be officially opened, and all commuter trains will begin trafficking the new line on the 10th of July, greatly reducing congestion for SJ regional and long distance trains.

However, this also means that extensive construction work needs to take place in order to open the new track. The trains are thus gradually updated in the timetable. The new prolonged travel time will be included on tickets, including the cases when there is a replacement bus.
